Always Have A Plan

One of the most common problems for people who are starting to workout is what are they truly trying to achieve. Everyone has a different goal. Answering that question should be done before the first outfit or gym shoes are purchased.
Think of it this way, if you were buying a car wouldn't you ask yourself what your greatest needs are. A construction worker might not need a smaller hybrid vehicle, while a salesman probably wouldn't have much use for a gas guzzling SUV.
The same is true when it comes to diet and exercise. For most people getting in shape and losing weight are the ultimate goals. To accomplish this, two things must be done. A dedicated workout routine must be combined with a sensible diet.
Boiling that thought down to one thought, I would say this, burn more calories than you take in. To do that, you must stick to a set cardiovascular workout schedule. That means running, swimming or any other form of exercise that increases your heart rate.
Once you've hit that goal, the next hurdle is finding a way to replenish your system with energy that will allow you to recover without loading up on calories.
There, that's the big workout secret that people often pay thousands of dollars to find out.
Like the quarter in your pocket, there is a flip side to that information. Not everyone is trying to lose weight. Some people, usually men, are looking to get bigger or bulk up. The reasons vary. Some guys do it for appearance while others do it for sports they are involved with.
Either way, the question needs to be asked, what am I trying to accomplish? At Advantage PTS it's the first question that's asked. The next question is when do you want to start? My answer is how about right now?
