Now, Bosley and Hair Club are targeting the Black woman! No they didn't!
Three weeks ago I monitored Advertisers on our website: . What I saw was not unusual in and of itself- Bosley and Hair Club surgical hair loss providers were advertising on our website, courtesy of Google. The ads attacked the non surgical hair loss solutions we invented for people with thinning hair and bald spots. Specifically, Bosley got greedy and started attacking cornrows. Bad move.
We immediately took their advertising off our website. It is one thing to get paid advertising dollars, and another to have our target market confused by the messages from Bosly and Hair Club.
In their latest tv ad, Bosly had a black woman state that she suffered from hair loss resulting from tight weaves and braids. Now we have always advocated against these type situations- a heavy handed weaver or braider. No problem there.
But here is where the confusion starts:
Confusion tactic 1:
Bosley then shows a black male with beautifuly done cornrows that are not done too tight. If you see the ad again, check the hair starting from the beginning- the pinch marks that appear on the surface of the scalp when hair is pulled too tight are non-existant.
Confusion tactic 2:
Bosley then says that tight cornrows have resulted in hair loss for African American women. The picture of a man with beautiful not tight cornrows and the pronouncement of the previous sentence do not match. Bosley does not show the woman then. Did you note that?
Fact 1:
Cornrows, beautiful not tight cornrows, are the most restful state that hair can be in for an African American woman or man, a woman of color, or a caucausian man or woman.
Fact 2:
Treebraids, a technique of weaving hair using cornrows, allows the subject to have longer hair, thicker, more beautiful hair.
Fact 3:
Our non surgical hair loss solutions take treebraids to the next level. Longer, thicker, more beautiful hair is available not just to people with a full head of hair, but also available to people suffering from balding or bald spots. Our unique technique is being protected. Our customers are very glad we have this inexpensive and non-invasive non surgical method of hiding their bald spots with hair. No one can tell they have a balding problem.
Fact 4:
Our non surgical hairi loss solutions are available to all people, including men, women, all nationalities, and ethnicities. We have previously not stressed this point because we have more than enough customer base. But now that Bosley and others are going after our market, we have no choic
