Jeffery M. Cleghorn is a Partner with the Atlanta law firm of Kitchens New, LLC, and heads the firm’s litigation practice. Mr. Cleghorn’s expertise is in General Civil Litigation, Family Law (Divorce, Custody Disputes, Modifications, Adoptions, Surrogacy, Child Support, and Alimony), Domestic Partnership Agreements and Disputes, Contracts, and Wills & Estate Planning. Mr. Cleghorn also has extensive experience with mediation, arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
Mr. Cleghorn is a distinguished military graduate of North Georgia College in Dahlonega and former US Army Intelligence Officer. Upon obtaining the rank of Major, Mr. Cleghorn left the Army and enrolled in law school at The George Washington University, in Washington, D.C. He began his legal career as a Staff Attorney with the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, in Washington, D.C., where he represented military personnel in matters relating to the Uniform Code of Military Justice and the Defense Department's administrative personnel policies.
Mr. Cleghorn's advocacy on behalf of service members included Congressional lobbying and Army liaison to senior Pentagon decision-makers. He has appeared as a military and legal analyst on CNN, C-SPAN , FOX News' The O'Reilly Factor, MSNBC's “Buchanan and Press”, and CNNfn.
A native of Griffin, Georgia, Mr. Cleghorn returned to Georgia in 2003 to enter private practice.
