To my health conscious friends, This is truly fascinating to me as a cardiologist Mona Vie just announced (within the last hour) the release of Mona Vie Pulse.  This is in addition to Mona Vie Original and Active.  This is a new formulation of MonaVie still with the Acai berry as the main ingredient, but with different fruits specifically aimed at cardiovascular health.  It has, in addition, concentrated versions of phytosterols - the naturally occurring substances from which all statin drugs were originally formulated.  It also has a concentrated version of resveratrol added to the juice.  (There is good clinical research showing slowing of the aging process with resveratrol and decreased incidence of "diseases of aging".)  With this, they now have FDA approval to make the claim that this juice can lower the risk of cardiovascular disease and can lower LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol).  No other nutritional beverage has the approval of the FDA to make such a claim.  Also, at least for the next two years, no other beverage company can have acai and the addition of phytosterols and resveratrol in a beverage.  Mona Vie has a patent on this combination.  I can now, without reservation, and in good conscious, suggest this to persons with cardiovascular disease.  They have ongoing clinical studies showing the clinical benefit of MonaVie Pulse in patients with cardiovascular disease.  Personally, I plan to drink a total of 4 ounces of both MonaVie Active (for joint health) and 4 ounces of Mona Vie Pulse (for cardiovascular health) per day.  (I am currently taking a phytosterol supplement developed by a well respected cardiologist in Kansas City.  I won't have to take this any longer.) Mona Vie Pulse will be available for online purchase September 29th 2008.
