New Land Samaritan Inns, Inc. is a non-profit organization operating The Gateway Program. The Gateway is a transitional living program for homeless men in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, located in downtown Lynchburg, VA. The Gateway provides housing and supportive services, holding its residents accountable as they learn to make better choices and rebuild their lives. The Gateway houses up to 24 men in individual accommodations. The facility also houses a large dining hall/meeting room, a small library, a clothing closet, a courtyard garden, a commercial-grade kitchen, two recreation rooms with cable tv, and two meditation rooms. The Gateway is a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher facility, so its residents pay rent to live there. The Program is a twelve-step based program with a substance abuse counselor and case managers on site. The Gateway has been in operation since 1992.
