    In a large percentage of cases following cataract surgery, patients develop a haze of membrane behind their intraocular lens implant. Recipients of cataract surgery with Medicare are each entitled to a Medicare benefit toward the purchase of one pair of eyeglasses.     An ectropion is usually associated with aging but additionally occurs as a result of other surgeries or scarring, as secondary to facial nerve paralysis, and can also be congenital. When associated with aging, known as involutional ectropion, the doctor will generally shorten and tighten the lower eyelid, correcting the outwardly turned lid.

    LASIK, LASEK & PRK Laser Vision Correction

    During LASEK surgery, the outer layer of the cornea is cut with a blade called a trephine which is finer that the microkeratome cutting tool used to perform the LASIK procedure, to create an appropriately-sized flap. These surgical procedures would include the reduction of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and blurring due to astigmatism (caused by a cornea that is elongated rather than round).
