About Southeast Alaska Guiding
At Southeast Alaska Guiding we specialize in boat hunts for trophy brown bears, mountain goats and black bears, along with fishing for the best in king salmon and halibut.
Your guide Hans Baertle, owner and operator of Southeast Alaska Guiding has been a registered guide since 1984 and has been guiding hunters throughout Southeast Alaska since 1978. Hans is also a commercial fisherman and holds a US Coast Guard Operators License. Located in Southeast Alaska Hans specializes in boat hunts on Admiralty Island and the Coastal Mountain Range for brown bear, black bear and mountain goat.
The most effective way of hunting Southeast Alaska's coastal wilderness and its endless channels and islands is by boat. Aboard our spacious 50-foot Motor Vessel "Northern Star" you can enjoy superb meals, hot showers and comfortable bunks. The "Northern Star" is equipped with two 18-foot hunting skiffs. While cruising to different bays, hunters use the boat as a spotting platform, glassing nearby mountains and meadows for game. After we anchor in a quiet secluded cove you and your guide will head out in your skiff to explore hidden passes and stalk up the many salmon streams in the pursuit of the big bruins.
