Why Is Tooth Extraction Necessary?
There are a number of situations where we might recommend tooth extraction, including:
One of your teeth is severely decayed and cannot be repaired.
A tooth is fractured in such a way that it needs to be removed.
Your teeth are too crowded, and extraction is necessary for orthodontic treatment.
We're preparing for placement of partial or full dentures.
Dr. Cook has performed many successful extractions over the years. But if your situation requires specialized attention, you’ll be glad to know that we work with only the most qualified oral surgeons in the area. Our goal is to make sure that you always receive the highest quality care available.
Special Treatment for Your Kids
Having a tooth extracted can be a scary experience for your child. As parents, we also understand that your top priority is keeping your child safe and comfortable.
Dr. Cook treats many children at our Birmingham dental office, and we are devoted to helping both you and your child have a calm, stress-free experience. We know how to take care with the unique needs of children, especially when it comes to a complex procedure like tooth extraction. You can be confident that your child’s comfort and well-being are in the hands of caring, understanding professionals.
Sedation Options for Your Complete Comfort
Anticipation of a certain procedure like tooth extraction often leads to intense anxiety. This is a terrible feeling and, in lots of cases, can actually be more overwhelming than the procedure itself.
At Cook Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we believe that it is not necessary for you to be burdened with these anxious feelings. With Dr. Cook’s experience and gentle chairside manner, this procedure can often be performed with only local anesthesia and sometimes nitrous oxide (laughing gas.) We can also prescribe a calming medication for you to take before your appointment so that you feel relaxed when you arrive for treatment.
