The Forsythe Firm
Disability Lawyer, Social Security Disability Attorney, huntsville social security disability advocate
Kevin is a 27 year-old US Army veteran who served two combat tours in Afghanistan. He served courageously and witnessed unspeakable horrors of war. He was wounded twice in combat and returned home in 2012. He couldn't sleep, could not stand to be around people and was extremely affected by loud noises. He finally withdrew from public places altogether and remained inside his home all the time. He was diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety and depression with agoraphobia. Symptoms were so bad he couldn't work. Kevin filed for Social Security disability but was denied. Our firm took Kevin's case on contingency: we would help him with Social Security but would not charge a fee unless he won and recovered back payments. We filed an appeal and asked for an on-the-record (OTC) decision based on Kevin's psychological impairments. After about 4 months, a fully favorable decision was awarded and Kevin was able to recover back pay to the date he was medically discharged from military service. His Social Security disability benefits will be paid in addition to VA disability benefits, helping Kevin to pay his bills while he tries to recover and resume a normal life.
