About Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area
The history of the Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area (LRWMA) in Northeast Georgia is full of interesting stories about the people who once lived there. We hope to obtain and document more of the history of the people who lived there between the time the land was purchased from the Cherokee Nation in 1804 until the land was owned by the US Forest Service in the late 40's. Your input is key to this effort! We value your information and comments. The information provided here is the result of the continuing research of the FFFF members and is open to anyone who wishes to comment and participate. It does not necessarily represent the views of the FFFF members or leaders nor does it represent the opinions or policies of the US Forest Service who manage the LRWMA. It is simply a means for all of us to participate in discussions concerning the historical events and sites within the LRWMA
