What to expect during massage therapy, depends on how well your therapist listens during your consultation. If you can communicate accurately what brought you to want a massage then your therapist should outline what they are going to do during your session. There should be a goal so that you can measure your progress over a series of massage therapy appointments. No single therapy session is going to adequately solve the problems you are having. Though you should feel a tremendous difference at the end of your session.
Once your consultation is over, your therapist will explain the kind of massage and techniques he or she will use and them implement them through either a “Therapeutic” or “Relaxing” massage modality.
In a typical massage therapy session you can wear loose fitting clothing or you can undress to the point that you are comfortable. You generally lie on a table and cover yourself with a sheet. You can also have a massage while sitting in a chair, fully clothed. Your massage therapist should perform an evaluation through touch to locate painful or tense areas and to determine how much pressure to apply. Remember that the music should help you relax but if it is too loud or soft we will be happy to adjust it for you.
Your therapist may use oil or lotion to reduce friction on your skin. Mention to your therapist if you have any aversion to certain fragrances or textures of oil.

A massage session may last from 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the type of massage and how much time you have. No matter what kind of massage you choose, you should feel calm and relaxed during and after your massage.
