Sports Camps, Overnight Camp, Kids Camps
Our camp program is based on the value of free choice within a multi-age setting. In this rich environment, kids are able to learn from each other, set individual priorities, and develop their own personal interests. We also offer programs that are designed for specific age groups. These age-specific programs are built on the same principles and allow kids of different ages to grow and explore camp at their own level.
Every day at camp is an opportunity to learn, explore, and have fun. Kids select their activities each day so that their camp experience is uniquely theirs. While fostering that critical independence, we also live in a strong community as we work on the farm, sing, and share meals together.
Our schedule is set up to work with busy families and changing school calendars. Families can select any combination of our two-week sessions. Two weeks is a great amount of time to settle into camp and have a ton of fun. Additional sessions allow campers to have a stronger feeling of belonging, make stronger friendships, and experience more activities. Sometimes committing to four weeks up front is too much (though many of our campers do enroll for two or more sessions), so we make it possible for campers to stay for another session if they want. With the permission of their parents, we talk to the campers and ask whether they want to stay. If the camper says “YES!” (which they often do), that camper gets to stay with their cabin for the next session and enjoy a more full experience!
Our one-week starter session is called Mini Camp only because it is our shortest session, not because the fun is any less. In this session we introduce campers to the traditions and activities of camp in an age-appropriate way that they love. Free choice is still a big part of their experience, but with more guidance so they can experience what sleep-away camp is about.
We know that going away to camp for the first time is a big step for both campers and their families. Mini Camp is designed to help ease the transition for everyone and give the campers a huge feeling of success.
CILT (CAMPERS IN LEADERSHIP TRAINING)
The CILT program is a selective program for older campers, structured to build on what they have already learned in previous years, and to focus on their personal growth while they develop their leadership skills. The 2015 CILT program will take place during Sessions 1 and 2, from June 21 to July 18. For the first two weeks, the program will focus on bonding and forming the CILT unit, where CILTs will be an active part of planning and executing each day’s activities. The main camp will be a base for several overnight trips, and they will focus on working together to tackle new and unexpected challenges, facing new situations together and individually. During the second two weeks, the focus will shift to growing as leaders during the CILTs interactions with the rest of camp. They’ll spend less time as a separate group and more time with the younger campers, engaging in counselor-training activities and developing their leadership skills with a larger group. This is a leadership development program which will provide campers with important skills that will better equip them to face the challenges the lie before them as they grow into adulthood.
