Wind farms are usually made out of blades that rotate fiercely and continuously. These blades are sharp and are placed high up in the air. Therefore they have become a major threat to birds. It has been estimated that over 45,000 birds have been killed by these blades within the past 20 years. Most of these birds migrate annually such as tailed hawks, golden eagles and kestrels. The people who manage these wind farms have paid attention to this and have painted the sharp blades in different colors. Unfortunately, they have not been able to provide a permanent solution to this issue.

Another disadvantage that is associated with wind turbines is their noise. It is one of the major reasons why many people tend to stay away from this energy source. Most of the machinery that is used in the process of making energy out of wind is noisy and it contributes towards noise pollution. It can also become a nuisance for the people who live around these wind turbines. Thus limiting their site location.

Furthermore it has been argued that wind turbines are not appealing to the eyes. This has even led some people to sign petitions against the wind turbines that are located in their neighborhood. In addition, these turbines interfere with the reception of television signals. Therefore, it is clear that some people prefer their well-being more than the energy created from wind turbines.

Another negative aspect of wind farms is their extensive land usage. Wind farms cannot be implemented in all the areas. The experts select the ideal piece of land after conducting thorough research about the area. The machinery associated with wind turbines require a lot of space and some people consider it as a waste of land space. Usually, the installation of a single turbine requires about five acres of land, which can be used for another meaningful purpose. All these negative aspects have put a huge amount of threat on the usage of wind energy to supply energy requirements of the present world.  However we still need renewable energy, so a solution to these problems must be found in order for us to protect our environment.
