Pilgrim School is an independent preK-12th grade school located between Downtown and Hancock Park. This summer, they are welcoming their youngest students with a Summer Program that will concentrate on serving as a bridge for incoming Kindergartners, 1st and 2nd graders. Summer programs at Pilgrim School will chart kids on a successful course for the fall. (photo courtesy of Pilgrim School) The Summer Readiness Program runs from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and Summer Sailor Camp is in the afternoon from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Two three-week sessions will be offered, one from June 24-July 12 and the second from July 15 – August 2. In addition, Summer Camp for grades Kindergarten –2nd will also be available August 5-16 from 7:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Content will vary in the two morning academic sessions, but both will enable students to review and reinforce learned concepts in fun and creative ways, and will strength reading and conceptual skills so they will be ready and confident to begin the new school year in the fall. The afternoon Summer Sailor Camp will include fine art explorations, sports adventures, animal encounters, and water activities. Drop-off starts at 7:30 a.m. and After Care will be available until 6:00 p.m. Students in Grades 3-5 and 6-8 can spend a week at beautiful Camp Cedar Lake from June 17-June 21. Activities will include canoeing, swimming, hiking, arts and crafts; team sports like basketball, volleyball, and softball; excursions to Snow Summit via chairlift, to Alpine Village for waterslides and go-karts, and into Big Bear Village for bowling. Meghan Brombach is Pilgrim School’s Summer School Director and can be reached for questions at (213)355-5207. Pilgrim’s preschool will also have a special Summer Program, offering a “Summer Adventure.” New families are invited to enroll and join in the fun. Every week, the preschool will have a different theme, some of which will be “Water Works,” “Under the Sky,” “Treasure Hunting” and “Dino Mite.” Daily activities will include art and crafts, cooking, dancing, building projects and lots of play. For information on the preschool summer program, call the Preschool Director, Diane Goodrich, at (213)355-5206.
