Teeth whitening or “bleaching” has been rapidly rising in popularity in recent years. It is one of the most requested procedures our patients ask for when it comes to improving the esthetics of one’s smile. It is a procedure that brightens the color of your teeth, enhancing your smile and self-confidence. We at Classic Dental Smiles have chosen to use the best systems available on the market for predictable, beautiful outcomes for any situation that may arise.
Whitening works by increasing the amount of oxygen that your teeth can absorb. The oxygen molecules dissolve the colored pigments in teeth, thereby brightening the overall color. There have been numerous scientific studies that have shown that the bleaching process causes no damage to the teeth. Whitening is considered to be completely safe.
The process starts with simple visit to the dental office to take molds of your teeth. These molds are sent to a lab that produces custom fit trays (the best we’ve seen) that help to keep the bleaching material on your teeth and from saliva washing away the material. The trays are extremely thin and very comfortable to wear. The material is placed at home in the trays and worn for a period of time, depending on the bleaching system used. It could be anywhere from 45 minutes to overnight. This process is repeated every night for 2 weeks. Periodic maintenance is needed but can be as simple as bleaching one night, once a month.
We believe in our carefully selected bleaching systems and can personally vouch for their effectiveness. We use the same exact materials and procedures on ourselves and can testify to the amazing results with little to no sensitivity. While it is impossible to predict the exact results, we have seen some incredible changes to a person’s smile through whitening. One of the benefits is that it can be accomplished without needing to place any crowns or veneers. It truly is the most conservative way to enhance your smile without the need for more involved dental work.
