Solid hardwoods are milled from a single piece of wood, usually ¾” thick. The thickness allows sanding and refinishing over time. Solid wood flooring expands and contracts with changes in your home’s humidity. (note: Due to Colorado’s drastic fluctuations in humidity, wide width hardwoods are not recommended and should only be installed in homes with whole house humidifiers.) Engineered hardwood is produced with three to five layers of hardwood. Each layer is stacked cross-grain and bonded together with heat and pressure. Engineered wood flooring is less affected by humidity changes, and therefore recommended for Colorado. Recycled hardwood floors in Denver are re-milled from old weathered and distressed barn wood, resulting in a beautiful aged and distinguished product that adds unique and rustic character. The product can be further individualized with custom stain, hand-scraping, and even hand-beveled edges.
