Endodontics (Root Canals)
Field Dental Center
Root Canal treatment is one of the most commonly practiced procedures. This can prevent the need of extractions of damaged teeth, as well as other major surgeries and concerns that can arise. The center area of the tooth is the pulp chamber with canals extending through the root of the tooth. Sometimes deep dental caries (cavities) or trauma to the tooth can cause nerve damage to the tooth. Hot/Cold sensitivity, swelling, pain when chewing or pressure, and bad tastes in your mouth are all signs that an infection could be developing and that root canal treatment would be needed. During this procedure, Dr. Field would open and drain the canals of the infected pulp. After, he would place a sealer, and a permanent restoration of some sort to protect the tooth from further infection or injury. In some instances a follow up appointment could be scheduled to check on the status of the tooth.
