Fuse for Runners

Over the years, Fuse students have fun 10 Ks, marathons, Iron Man, Tough Mudder, and, of course, the broken Metro escalator steps. We’ve also had plenty of students with issues from running ranging from stress fractures and shin splints to tight hip flexors to overdeveloped quadriceps. Although running is great cardio, it can create imbalances that can sideline your running short- or long-term. If you love to run, you probably notice its effects on your body. You have strong legs, but tight hips. You may have knee problems, low back pain, or poor balance. You might get winded easily. This all-level mat class is focused on our students who like to pound the pavement (or just run to to the occasional meeting). Exercises will help strengthen the diaphragm so breathing is easier. We’ll help stretch tight glutes and hamstrings, build ab, pelvic and back strength, and improve posture – all of which help you run longer with less effort. Non-runners are welcome, too!
