Everybody knows that adolescents are known for their moodiness. All adolescents share in mood swings, tantrums and eye rolling at their parents and family members. If your adolescent is like most kids across Cape Canaveral, it can be hard to press them for important information. It can be hard to tell the difference between typical teenage behavior and sings of addiction, but there are some key changes which may take place if your child is abusing drugs and alcohol. Spotting these signs early is important in offering assistance your child get the help they need. One of the fastest signs you can spot is change in appearance. Has your adolescent’s interest in their appearance taken a turn for the worse? If your child has started developing poor hygiene habits, they could be focusing their attention on abusing drugs and alcohol. Additional appearance signs include bloodshot eyes, dark circles under their eyes, unexplained bruises and strange markings on their arms or legs. Has your adolescent suddenly fallen from a star student to a detention dweller? Drastic behavioral changes are a major indication that your child may be abusing substances. A drop in their grades, lack of attendance, loss of interest in hobbies and a change in personality are indicative of addiction. It can be all too easy for adolescents to fall into the wrong crowd. If your child has new friends or completely hides their communication with friends from your knowledge, they’re more than likely hiding their addiction from you. Each adolescent is a unique individual, so their specific indicators of addiction may be different.
