Jensen Beach Dental
Invisalign, Clear Braces, Invisible Braces
Let’s face it, traditional braces are not for everyone. If you are a professional, work face-to-face with clients, have an active social life, or simply feel concerned about the way you’ll look with traditional braces, we completely understand! When our Jensen Beach Dental patients expressed an interest in an alternative solution to traditional brackets and wires, Dr. Christopher J. Wigley decided to offer Invisalign clear braces to our patients.
How Invisalign Works
Invisalign is an innovative system that depends upon clear plastic aligner trays to gradually move your teeth into an ideal position. We start by taking dental impressions of your teeth so that we can plan your treatment and create your aligner trays.
Once you receive your aligner trays from the Invisalign lab, you will wear each tray for approximately two weeks. Each one is different and will be one step closer to your ideal smile.
We will schedule periodic evaluations in our office so that we can monitor your treatment and make sure you are on track. Your treatment will progress more quickly if you follow the guidelines and wear your trays for at least 22 hours per day, stay on track with your follow-up appointments, and maintain excellent oral hygiene.
Invisalign can treat common dental conditions such as gaps, misaligned teeth, out-of-place teeth, overlapping, cross bite, over bite, under bite, and overcrowding. How long your treatment will take depends largely upon how many teeth we need to move and how far they need to go. Once you have a consultation with us, Dr. Wigley can describe your estimated treatment time.
Benefits of Invisalign
The benefits of Invisalign are numerous. Our patients love that the aligner trays are crystal clear so that no one can see them while you are speaking or smiling. Additionally, your trays are removable for brushing, flossing, and eating. This makes staying on track with good oral hygiene a breeze.
Invisalign is extremely comfortable because your aligner trays are smooth and will not irritate the sensitive inner lining of your cheeks like traditional brackets and wires.
Just like with traditional orthodontics, you will need to wear a retainer after treatment. Your teeth will have a natural tendency to drift back toward their original locations. This condition, called orthodontic relapse, wastes both time and money.
To get the most out of your treatment, make sure you wear your retainer for the minimum recommended hours each day. That will keep your smile looking great and protect your investment.
