The Tampa Electric Manatee Viewing Center is a tourist staple for anyone visiting Tampa for good reason. It’s a great place to watch these sea creatures swim in the cold weather and it’s within easy reach of the city too.
Pebble Creek Golf Club
Pebble Creek Golf Club is a world famous golf course that draws thousands of visitors a year. It’s a par-71 course full of rich greens, challenging holes, friendly staff and great food at the 19th. Well worth a visit if you love your golf. Rates are cheaper during the week, especially late afternoon.
Adventure Island is a water park that draws crowds from miles around. It’s more traditional than cutting edge and that just adds to the charm. There are two pools, 10 slides and plenty of other things to do in its 10 acres of grounds.
Busch Gardens is one of our most famous theme parks and attracts crowds in their hundreds of thousands. For good reason too, as it’s full of things to do including feeding animals, lots of rides, arcades, roller coasters and themed areas. If you like thrill rides and want to spend a day in a safe, exciting environment, this is for you.
Henry B. Plant Museum
The Henry B. Plant Museum is set in the Moorish-style Tampa Bay Hotel on the University of Tampa campus. It’s a lovely setting for what is a lovely museum that celebrates the life and times of railroad man Henry Bradley Plant. If you like antiques, opulent décor and beautiful architecture this is for you.
Big Cat Rescue
Big Cat Rescue is a wildlife sanctuary come zoo and it is the place to come if you love cats. You can see all kinds here, from bobcats to snow leopards, tigers to jaguars and many more besides. The staff are friendly and the entire experience is very informative. If cats are your thing, this is the place to be!
Lowry Park Zoo
Lowry Park Zoo is small but perfectly formed. It’s very well done with lots on offer in 60 acres of grounds. The animals look healthy and happy, the staff are good and it’s a nice break from the city. The zoo features themed areas with the animals that live in different regions, making it easier to put them into perspective.
