Dr. Amy Marckese-Braun understands the embarrassment and anxiety that comes with losing your teeth. DentalSpa offers a wide range of options for replacing missing teeth including dental implants. For many patients, dental implants provide the best long term results for both esthetic and health reasons.
Dental implants are the most permanent, natural looking solution for missing or broken teeth. While there are multiple treatment options available for replacing teeth that are no longer functional, only dental implants can replicate the quality, effectiveness, and durability of natural teeth.
What is a Dental Implant and How Does it Work?
A dental implant is a bio-compatible titanium post that is surgically implanted into the jaw bone, replacing the root of missing teeth. When fully integrated with the bone, the dental implant will provide stability and support for a replacement tooth. A dental implant can be used to replace a single missing tooth or used to replace all of your missing teeth by supporting a denture or over-bridge.
Dental Implant FAQs
Q: Are Dental Implants Painful?
A: Patients are often amazed at how comfortable they were during and after their treatment. The procedure for placing a dental implant is no more painful than having the tooth removed. You will be given anesthesia and other sedatives to help you relax and feel comfortable.
Q: How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?
A: The cost of dental implants is a major concern for most patients. While dental implants do require an investment of both time and money, the long term benefits often outweigh other options. Other restorations such as dental bridges and dentures commonly require repairs and maintenance. Dental implants also have the highest rate of patient satisfaction. With dental implants, people are able to eat, drink, speak and smile comfortably.
We offer flexible payment options if you are considering dental implants including interest free financing through Care Credit. Learn more
Q: How Long Will the Dental Implant Process Take?
A: What makes dental implants so successful is that they integrate with the living bone. The tooth will be extracted. The dental implant may or may not be placed during the same visit. The healing process can take anywhere from 3 – 6 months after the implant is placed. During this time, you will have a temporary crown placed on the implant for both cosmetic and functional purposes. We recommend a soft diet during this time. Once the implant is fully integrated, the permanent crown or overdenture will be placed and you will be able to resume normal function within days.
Q: Will I need to see a Specialist?
A: Dr. Amy Marckese-Braun is able to perform a majority of dental implant procedures in our Indianapolis dental office. A small number of cases are referred to specialists to have the dental implant placed. In either situation, Dr. Marckese-Braun will coordinate the entire treatment plan and work closely with the specialist, when necessary, to be sure everything is properly placed. Our staff will assist you with any scheduling that may be needed in the event you are referred to a specialist.
