Let me introduce you to the Knutty Knitters. We meet every Monday evening at Common Ground Coffee Co. in downtown Fort Scott, Kansas. Members are (from left to right) Barbara Diblasi, Vickie Brasuell, Maria Conradt, Sherry Hindman, Kristine O’Dell, Lynn Chaney, and Colby Cox (our favorite Common Ground Coffee Co. employee!). Colby always has a smile on his face and takes care of us every Monday night (or perhaps I should say that he “puts up with the Knutty Knitters!”). Common Ground Coffee Co. is a great establishment with a terrific atmosphere and friendly employees. It‘s a great location for your group get-togethers or small meetings, so why not give them a call today? They even maintain an activity calendar on the wall right inside the door so you can check out what’s going on during the month! Our group would also like to invite you to come and join us any Monday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We get together to enjoy the great coffee and other items Common Ground Coffee Co. offers, friendship, and of course, to knit. We are currently learning to knit socks. If you do not knit but do other crafting projects, we invite you to join us as well since we are always interested in new ideas and skills. And just to let you know, real men knit too! On a more personal note, this photo was taken on March 10, 2014 at Common Ground Coffee Co. in Fort Scott. These girls have taken my knitting classes, and I am extremely proud of all of them and the progress they have made. They have progressed from beginners learning the basic stitches, to completing simple projects on straight needles, to learning how to use circular needles for making hats and other items, up to our current project, knitting socks on double pointed needles. Maria started out in October 2012 by learning how to knit dishcloths. She rejoined the group in September 2013 and has completed several hats and scarves. Vickie and Kristine are a mother & daughter team. They started in April 2013 with dishcloths, progressed to baby hats and sweaters, and then made sweaters for their husbands for Christmas. They have also completed several projects in between including baby and adult hats, a baby onsie, and a beautiful adult triangular shawl. Barbara joined the group in November 2013 and has completed dishcloths, several adult hats, and a scarf. Sherry joined our group in January 2014. She is a very experienced crafter in several different venues. Sherry is also very active in the Kansas City area Renaissance Festival, which requires that everything she does be handmade, including the needles she uses – so she made double pointed needles for the group, and we are using them to knit our socks! My name is Lynn Chaney. I am the owner of Little Luxuries, LLC. I teach knitting classes and also take custom orders for hand knit items of all kinds as well as other projects for counted cross stitch and hand embroidery including flour sack dish towels. If you are interested in learning to knit or just need a refresher, or if you need a hand crafted item for a gift or for yourself, please contact me. My phone number is 620-223-5226 or you can e-mail me at [email protected]
