Each year, Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics takes part in Dental Assistants Recognition Week (DARW), which occurs during the week of March 3. The celebratory period is sponsored through a number of organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Dental Assistants Association, and the Canadian Dental Assistants Association. Dental Assistants Recognition Week honors not only chairside dental assistants, but dental receptionists, teachers, insurance professionals, and salespeople. Practices across the country take advantage of this week in order to highlight the accomplishments and express proper appreciation for each of these vital members of dental teams. Each person plays a vital role in our practice to ensure we provide the best possible patient care experience. During DARW, dental team members receive recognition for their own unique and diverse contributions to the dental profession as well as to the overall dental health care of the public. It also gives our Doctors a chance to say thank you for all of the contributions that the team makes to our office and our community. Last year, dental assistants with Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontic Specialists of Michigan were able to enter raffle drawings for Red Wing hockey tickets and various gift cards. The week continued with a number of snacks and goody deliveries from the doctors and management, and finished with a Mexican fiesta. This year’s theme is “Dental Assisting: Embracing the Changes of the Profession”. The theme acknowledges the growing importance of dentistry’s role in health care, and the many ways in which dental assistants participate in delivering quality patient care. Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontic Specialists of Michigan is excited to participate in this celebration of their incredibly necessary and endlessly appreciated Dental Assistants.
