On March 29, 2014, Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontic Specialists of Michigan was proud to participate in the Macomb Egg-Stravaganza, held at the Macomb Township Recreation Center. While the office participates in a number of community events on a regular basis, the Egg-Stravaganza is one of two events hosted by the Macomb Township Parks and Recreation Department that Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontic Specialists of Michigan looks forward to participating in each year (the other is the trick-or-treat trail in the fall). This year, parents, grandparents, and children alike were invited to hit the “Hippity-Hop Trail” with friends and businesses in the community. Kids had the chance to visit the Easter Bunny, and could spend time making crafts, playing games, and expending some Easter candy energy in a number of inflatable fun-zones. To top it all off, there was also a petting zoo for attendees to enjoy. Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontic Specialists of Michigan and many other Macomb businesses were accompanied by nearly five hundred children, of which many came ready with Easter baskets in hand. Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontic Specialists of Michigan helped out with several aspects of the event, including the set up of displays decorated in an Easter theme and distribution of goody items to promote oral health to fill the children’s Easter baskets. While most businesses hand out candy, Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontic Specialists of Michigan prefers to hand out glow in the dark toothbrushes to passersby to fight off the sugar bugs in all of the Easter candy. According to Sherri Okerhjelm, “The kids are always very excited to see what we are passing out.” When asked about her favorite part of the event, she replied, “It’s great to see all of the families, many of which come in large groups, bringing Grandma and Grandpa and other extended family members.” Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontic Specialists of Michigan will continue to participate in community events like these throughout the year. We hope to see you at our next appearance! About Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontic Specialists of Michigan, the offices of Drs.
