Keywords: imaging services, Scanning Services, imaging center

An analysis performed by CT scanning one part and evaluating internal porosity or inclusions within a part. Importing one CT dataset and generating an analysis to determine the size and locations of porosities. The porosity or inclusions within the part is categorized by color based on their respective sizes.

Wall Thickness Analysis

After a part is CT scanned, a boundary is created around all internal and external part features. The distance between every surface is calculated and identified as the minimum wall thickness. The results are supplied in a color coded model showing variations from a pre-specified wall thickness. In addition to the 3D color coded model, 2D cross sectional whisker plots are also included with the results to show wall thickness deviations in cross sectional slices.

Reverse Engineering

After a part has been CT scanned, internal and external data are extracted from the results. The primary output is an intermediary CAD file in point cloud/polygon format. Data can be currently exported in the following formats: STL, WRL, TXT, PLY, OBJ.
