Wall Thickness Analysis from JG&A Metrology Center

By: JG&A Metrology Center  01/23/2014
Keywords: imaging services, imaging center, Cat Scan

An analysis performed by CT scanning one part and evaluating inconsistencies of wall thickness within a part. Importing one unique CT dataset and generating an analysis to identify areas of inconsistent thickness when compared to a predetermined size. The differences are shown on a surfaced color map.

Keywords: 3d xray, 3d x-ray, assembly analysis, Cat Scan, Computed Tomography, Ct Scan, imaging center, imaging services, Inclusion, Medical Imaging Services, Porosity, xray tomography,

Reverse Engineering

After a part has been CT scanned, internal and external data are extracted from the results. The primary output is an intermediary CAD file in point cloud/polygon format. Data can be currently exported in the following formats: STL, WRL, TXT, PLY, OBJ.

Void/Inclusion Analysis from JG&A Metrology Center thumbnail

Void/Inclusion Analysis

After a part is CT scanned, a boundary is created around the part itself and for each internal void within the part. Internal voids are then quantified by the volume of each pore. Once the volume of each pore has been identified, the results are assigned a color based upon volume. In addition to volume, each pore can be identified within a part by its coordinate X, Y, Z location and individual sizes. Percentage of porosity within the entire part or within a specific area can also be supplied.
