The ”Baby blues” is a common occurrence with over 85% of new mothers, which they often experience within the first days or weeks after giving birth. Because this is so common, many providers recommend "toughing it out" or "waiting through it." They say that nothing can typically be done to help it. Sometimes the Baby Blues can progress when nothing is done to help it, and then it can worsen further and become postpartum depression. When a new mother is diagnosed with postpartum depression, she is often prescribed to use antidepressant medication. As with all medications, antidepressants are passed to their new baby through breast milk. Some of these mothers may not want to expose their babies to these medications. As a result, they are faced with a decision to take the prescribed medication and stop breastfeeding, or simply to do nothing and struggle with depression. There is a natural option -- Placenta Encapsulation and ingestion.
Although not well resarched or proven, experiential and individual reports of women who consumed their placentas through the process of placenta encapsulation have shared the following positive results, personal outcomes and benefits.
1. Contained mother's own natural hormones;
2. Perfectly made for mother, by mother;
3. Balanced their bodily systems hypothosizing that it was a direct-effect of hormone balance;
4. Replenished depleted iron and raised hemoglobin content;
5. Gave them more energy;
6. Lessened postnatal bleeding and lochia.
7. Some mothers found that their milk production was increased;
From past client experiences and reports, the birth community has seen that placentas can be powerful and positive in postpartum recovery. Therefore, it is important that each mother make the best use of the ONE she has available -- her own!
