Acupuncture for Infertility
Loehr Chiropractic & Acupuncture
Acupuncture, Pregnancy, Infertility
Infertility issues are often one of the least talked about among friends and couples, because they are one of the most personal health problems one can experience. There are approximately 6.7 million women between the ages of 15-44 in the US alone that have an impaired ability to carry a baby to term or become pregnant (National Survey of Family Growth: CDC 2006-2010). Currently, 85-90% of infertility issues are treated with medication or surgery. In vitro fertilization (IVF), medication, and surgery may be successful options for some patients. However, there are less invasive, and less expensive, routes for addressing infertility. One of the methods most overlooked in reproductive medicine is the power of acupuncture.
At Loehr Chiropractic & Acupuncture, Dr. Steven Loehr works with women daily who are seeking to have a baby. “I work with a variety of cases ranging from a planned IVF to just helping an abnormal menstrual cycle get regulated, and everything in-between. Every patient is different and requires a different treatment plan, but many times I begin with acupuncture points that reduce stress. Stress can affect fertility as much as anything else our bodies go through,” shared Dr. Steven Loehr, DC and MTAA.
But, is it really successful? Is it safe? Yes. Acupuncture is safe for moms-to-be and even safe throughout the pregnancy for symptoms such as morning sickness and lower back pain.
Dr. Loehr is currently working toward his Diplomate from the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine. The American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine is a non-profit organization dedicated to research, teaching, and the practice of Oriental Reproductive Medicine. Once finished later in 2015, Dr. Loehr will be the only board certified practitioner in the Southwest Missouri and one of only five in the state.
