Due to changes in the credit card industry, a unit must be purchased for each register where you need to
swipe credit cards. If a station needs to process a card, which does not have a VeriFone unit, then you
can manually key in the credit card number.
Question: Are these required?
Answer: Technically no, however if a retailer does not update their technology by October 15, 2015
then they will be held liable for charge backs. This is known as the ‘Liability Shift.’ The sooner you
purchase the required hardware the better off you are.
Question: Is EMV (Also known as chip & pin) new?
Answer: No, it has been around for many years and used in most parts of the world. This is finally
making it to the US market.
Question: Does this device give Lightning greater flexibility?
Answer: Yes, we now support debit cards and our split tender feature of utilizing two credit cards for a
single transaction has been greatly enhanced.
Question: What if I already have the Topaz signature capture pad?
Answer: Eventually support for this device will be dropped. The new all-in-one MX915 device will
replace this older technology which includes a signature capture.
Question: Are there additional fees?
Answer: Besides the one-time fee for the physical VeriFone MX915 unit, there is a $10.00 flat monthly fee
which is being charged by your credit card processor, per location, not per device. There are no
additional fees by Computer Perfect.
Answer: The unit plugs into a standard USB port on a computer which should only be done once all of
the back end work, performed by us, is completed.
Answer: Only two options exist which are economical and are on the purchase section below.
- $ 55.00 A metal stand for the device which we recommend you screw this into the countertop.
- $60.00 A logo of your store to appear on the large splash screen on the unit. If not, then a generic
message will be present. Our in-house marketing coordinator will work with you if this
option is selected.
Question: Is the device EMV (Chip & Pin) ready?
Answer: Although the VeriFone MX915 includes a slot for the customer to insert their EMV card,
however the software interface is not ready yet. This development will be phase two and will require a
quick software upgrade at no additional fee.
Question: Why is the pricing a "Limited Time Offer?"
Answer: We are trying to avoid a major rush as the deadline approaches. We have to deploy a few
thousand of these and the time and scheduling is extensive. We are offering a discount of $ 200 in
