Platinum coins are one way of investing in platinum. The coins are produced by government mints such as the Royal Canadian Mint and the United States Mint. Few varieties of platinum coins have been minted, however, because of its cost and difficulty in refining. More than the actual face value of the coins in the country’s currency, the worth of the platinum coins far exceeds its face value. Platinum coins such as the American Platinum Eagle has been sold to bullion investors by the United States Mint since 1997.
