Dental Implants, Implant Dentist
Missing teeth can take a serious toll on your life. Eating the foods you enjoy becomes difficult, and you may fear to smile or laugh out of self-consciousness. Even worse, our society has created a stigma around missing teeth, and others may judge you unfairly as a result.
We don’t think it should be that way. Thanks to dental implants, it doesn’t have to be.
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are a state-of-the-art new technology that allows us to replace missing teeth with new artificial teeth that are so lifelike, nobody will ever know the difference. A dental implant is made up of two primary parts – the titanium post that is placed in your jaw in the space left by your missing tooth, and the crown that is attached to the post and designed to look just like one of your own teeth.
At Premier Dental, our dentists are able to both place your implant and restore the crown, meaning you can have the entire procedure performed by the dentists you trust right here in our comfortable office. We’ll be there for you through the entire process from start to finish.
Why Dental Implants?
With the other tooth-replacement options that are available, why choose dental implants?
It’s a fair question. After all, dentures and bridges have been around for a long time and have a pretty good track record. Thanks to advances in the construction of restorations, dentures, partials, and bridges also look much more natural than they used to.
However, dental implants have one distinct advantage over all of these other options. Unlike these other tooth replacements, dental implants also replace the roots of your teeth.
Your roots do more than just hold your teeth in place. They also work hard beneath your gums, constantly stimulating the regrowth of your gum and bone tissue. When you lose a tooth, this process stops, and your gum and bone begin to deteriorate. While initially you may not notice, eventually the deterioration will affect the nearby teeth, causing them to become loose. As you lose more teeth and the deterioration spreads, your jaw shrinks, and your mouth begins to develop the sunken appearance that so many associate with missing teeth.
Dental implants stop this process in its tracks. The titanium post of the dental implant functions like your own tooth root and allows your gum and bone tissue to repair itself as nature intended. Dentures, partials, and bridges can’t do this.
Are Dental Implants Right for Me?
Before we can decide if dental implants are the right choice for you, you need to call Premier Dental and schedule a consultation and examination with one of our skilled dentists. We’ll examine the condition of your jaw tissue to determine whether a dental implant can be placed. If it’s been a while since you lost your tooth or teeth and your jaw tissue has begun to shrink, don’t worry. Dental implants are still possible thanks to procedures like bone grafts, and we are happy to discuss this process with you.
