A bay window is a combination of 3 or more windows that extend from your home. Bay windows are often the envy of the neighborhood since they add so much spaciousness and personality. You'll often see bay windows in bedrooms and living rooms.
True to their name, sliding windows slide horizontally back and forth. They are perfect for smaller areas where a protruding window would not be wanted. Single sliding windows have one sash that opens, with both sashes open in double sliding windows.
Awning windows are hinged at the top and open outward. Similar to casement windows, they are good for ventilation. An additional advantage of awning windows is that they can be kept open in rainy weather since the glass keeps rain from entering yur home.
Casement windows open outward like a door does, with hinges on one side. They allow good ventilation because they can let breezes in. This makes casement windows great for areas where ventilation is needed, such as kitchens.
Picture windows do not open or close. Picture windows are great for areas where you want to get an unobstructed view of the outside and let natural light in. Living rooms are popular areas for this window type.
One of the most common window types, double hung windows have operable top and bottom sashes. Since both sashes open up all the way, double hung windows provide great circulation. The majority of double hung windows tilt in; this lets you clean both the inside and outside of the window from inside your home.
