Tooth loss is caused by a variety of factors such as tooth decay, trauma, root canal failure, or gum disease. And because of tooth loss, many people suffer from joint pain, poor oral health, and loss of confidence due to missing teeth. Dental implants are a replacement for missing teeth that provide a strong foundation and a fixed solution as it mirrors the size and shape of a patient’s natural tooth. The implant or artificial root is placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia, and then allowed to heal and integrate with the bone. Once the healing process is completed and the implant has integrated into the jaw, the patient returns to the dental office, where the implant is fitted with the new tooth. Good oral hygiene and regular check-ups will ensure the longevity of the implant.
