EDDM (Every Door Direct Mail)
EDDM is short for Every Door Direct Mail. This is a program that the USPS created to allow businesses to mail pieces in their local area by carrier route, similar to the full service saturation mailing option.
The big difference with EDDM is that the printed material does not require a mailing list. Each piece simply says “Local Postal Customer”. What this allows you to do is, print out paperwork that alerts the post office which carrier route you want to target, and they will then put one of these pieces in each mail box on that route. There are certain forms to fill out and rules to follow to present your printed EDDM properly at the post office.
