Finding a team of compassionate professionals you know and trust is important. We know that if a child isn’t comfortable with the people around them, their experience is likely to be less positive. At Sullivan Dental Partners, you can be confident that our friendly, experienced team will provide your child with the preventive treatments they need in a safe and secure environment. Your Child’s Comfort Is Our Priority It’s understandable that the first few visits to the dentist may be a little overwhelming for both of you. We can assure you that our team is highly experienced in working with kids. We’re proud to say that many of our adult patients started with us when they were children! You can be confident that we know how to make these first few visits comfortable and stress-free for both you and your kids. We’re pleased to offer nitrous oxide, a mild form of sedation that is completely safe for children. Sedating your child with nitrous oxide won’t put him or her to sleep, but it will make them feel a little drowsy and give them an enhanced feeling of relaxation. We’re always happy to arrange a time for you and your child to meet us and check out the office. When the time comes for their first official visit, they will already be familiar with us and the surroundings. We realize that these visits may be stressful for you, too, so for your peace of mind, we encourage you to join your child in the treatment room. Why Baby Teeth Are Important Dr. Rick and Dr. Sully like to start seeing kids around age three or four. At this age, most of their baby teeth have emerged. By starting their dental care at an early age, we can better ensure their future oral health and help them develop a positive attitude about visits to the dentist. Kid's Dentist Brentwood, TNThis is a critical time for your child’s dental development. Think of baby teeth as the building blocks or placeholders for permanent teeth. Whatever conditions affect the baby teeth also have an impact on permanent teeth already developing in the gums. Baby teeth are normally meant to stay in until permanent teeth develop and are ready to emerge. The loss of just one baby tooth too soon can lead to tooth misalignment and the potential need for orthodontic treatment in the future. Preventive Treatments Build Healthy Teeth Routine dental cleanings and exams are every bit as important for kids as they are for adults. Our hygienists have kids and grandkids of their own and know what it takes to keep them happy and comfortable. During these exams, we’ll talk to you and your kids about the importance of good oral hygiene practices and a proper diet. We’ll check for signs of decay and fill cavities as soon as possible. Treating these problems promptly preserves the tooth as well as your child’s long-term oral health. After checking your child’s teeth, we may decide that fluoride treatments are needed to keep their enamel strong and healthy. We may also recommend dental sealants, a very effective treatment that helps protect your child’s teeth from cavities.
