dental cleanings, Professional Dental Cleanings
Professional cleanings will not only keep your teeth looking bright and feeling smooth, they will also help keep your mouth healthy and ward off a variety of general health problems in the process.
All it takes is one toothache to realize how critical oral health is to your overall well-being!
Did you know that the digestive process begins in your mouth? When you have oral infections or other dental issues, your entire system can be affected adversely. Oral health issues have been linked to a number of serious systemic health conditions, including respiratory problems, stroke, and diabetes. Your dental checkup will uncover any oral health issues you may be experiencing.
It’s always better to catch a problem when it’s small and easy to treat! Early detection of problems can eliminate pain and costly remedies down the road, not to mention the cost of dental problems to your general health.
Healthy Mouth and Healthy Body
Azure Dental patients are educated on the importance of good oral health and the connection between a healthy mouth and a healthy body. We teach you how to use proper brushing and flossing techniques for the best oral hygiene.
If you ever have questions about your home care routine, please bring them to us! We are happy to review your routine and look for areas that need improvement so you can get the most benefit from this important habit.
Learning how to properly care for your teeth is the best defense against dental decay.
What to Expect During Your Comprehensive Exam
Your dental exam begins with an assessment by the hygienist. You will then have digital x-rays taken, and the hygienist will check for periodontal problems.
When your initial exam is finished and your cleaning complete, Dr. Shah will continue the exam with high-tech dental instruments designed for early detection of problems. As part of your exam, your surrounding soft tissues will also be checked.
A thorough exam includes an oral cancer screening. This painless procedure takes only a few minutes, but it can be a lifesaver.
Fewer than 20% of the general population receive these screenings as recommended. At Azure Dental, however, we screen our patients annually. When discovered in their early stages, oral cancers are among those that are easily treated.
