Losing a permanent toot is more than just an aesthetic issue; it can be detrimental to your oral health as well. Whether you’ve lost a tooth due to injury or tooth decay, it’s important to have a replacement put into place. A dental bridge is an excellent way to replace a missing tooth or teeth, and ensure your smile stays healthy and brilliant.
Types of Dental Bridges
There are several different types of dental bridges that can be used to repair your smile. Your dentist will perform an examination and discuss which option will be best for you based upon a number of factors. The most common choice is known as the “traditional bridge,” and is made from naturally-colored porcelain fused to metal, with two crowns to fit over anchoring teeth on either side of the bridge. Porcelain is used due to it’s appearance and durability. While dental bridges may need to be re-cemented or adjusted due to wear and tear, under normal circumstances dental bridges can last for several years.
