Dryer Vent Cleaning
Dryer vent cleaning is an important maintenance service that people should do regularly to prevent the risk of experiencing dryer fire. When your dryer runs for a long time, lint accumulates and blocks the vent. This lint is the small fibers that come off clothes during drying. Even though most dryers have a lint screen, it only catches roughly 50% of lint. This means the rest of the lint is sucked into the venting system.
If dryer vent cleaning is not performed immediately, the lint particles dry out inside the vent and bend with various lint fibers. Due the moist air present within the dryer, lint starts accumulating at some places within the vent, thus forming limitations on airflow. Any reduction or restriction on airflow increases lint buildup in the vent. This means lint will continue accumulating over time. Without regular dryer vent cleaning, the vent becomes clogged and in effect, the dryer works harder to dry the laundry. Finally, the dryer overheats and either stops working and requires repairs or the accumulated lint becomes ignited and starts a fire.
