Vasectomy, Urologic Care
A vasectomy is usually an outpatient procedure that can be performed in about half an hour. We can provide oral medications to help you feel relaxed and calm during treatment. Next, a local anesthetic is applied to the area to help ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. One or two very small incisions will be made in the scrotum. This will allow the doctor to reach the vas deferens, the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles in preparation for ejaculation. Both vas deferens will be severed, and sealed either by being tied, clamped, or through electrocautery, or the application of heat. Finally, the vas deferens are placed back inside the scrotum, which is then sealed closed with sutures.
