With a mission of encouraging and supporting aspiring women entrepreneurs, SER MUJER (Mastering and Understanding Jobs and Entrepreneurial Relationships) will now be available to women nationwide through its new web- and mobile-based e-learning for women entrepreneurs.
The fastest growing entrepreneurial segments in the county are Hispanic and African American women. SER MUJER provides the opportunity for women to empower themselves via entrepreneurship training and development, with a particular emphasis on Latinas and women of color. And, through the new e-learning for women entrepreneurs, this opportunity will now be available to aspiring women nationwide.
The program’s full coursework, offered in traditional workshop settings in select cities, including Dallas, Fresno, Los Angeles, Miami, and Washington, DC, is now available through e-learning for women entrepreneurs in online and mobile app delivery formats . This will allow the non-traditional learner who may only be able to access the program after hours to benefit from the comprehensive approach to entrepreneurial skill development. Some individuals may also find a more positive experience by accessing a hybrid of the program: some classroom instruction with online availability.
The e-learning component serves four key purposes –
The nationwide availability of the program to all interested individuals.
The ability to accommodate non-traditional learners and flexible scheduling needs.
The removal of any restrictions on number of applicants or number of program slots.
The long-term availability and sustainability of the program.
In total, the e-learning for women entrepreneurs covers a comprehensive range of topics across 13 modules available in both English and Spanish, which include – creating a business plan, business structure, financing, marketing, tax planning, and registering your business, among others. What also makes SER MUJER unique is that it is designed to accommodate the every man, or every woman, with modules that can be mixed and matched to meet individual needs, from the novice entrepreneur or small “mom-and-pop” owner, to more complex business models.
Through SER MUJER, a great need is being served – not simply because the primary demographic is women, or Latinas in particular, but because it is simultaneously an incubator and an accelerator for these groups, which studies have shown translates to a success rate of 87 percent among graduating start-up ventures, compared to 44 percent for all other firms (U.S. Small Business Administration).
