The Nicholson Clinic for Weight Loss Surgery’s founder discusses the new three-month exercise program designed especially for bariatric surgery patients.
Plano, TX, Oct 16, 2015 – Post-bariatric patients looking for a guided way to work exercise into their routines are invited to take part in a three-month class designed just for them. Presented by the Nicholson Clinic for Weight Loss Surgery and the Baylor Tom Landry Health and Wellness Center, the SHED program offers surgical patients a safe way to embark on the next leg of their weight-loss journeys.
“Exercise is a key component in weight loss especially for bariatric surgery patients,” says Dr. Nick Nicholson, founder and lead surgeon at the North Texas-based Nicholson Clinic, one of the top weight loss surgery centers in the country. “Getting started in a program before or after surgery is critical for not only ensuring overall success of the procedure, but also for helping men and women take better control of their overall health while gaining self-confidence along the way.”
The SHED program is a three-month, guided exercise class that provides bariatric patients the support they need to make physical activity a part of the their regular routines. SHED stands for self-confidence, health, encouragement and dedication. SHED includes pre- and post-program assessments, including weight and circumference measurements. Participants also enjoy twice weekly, hour-long group training sessions that are led by professional fitness staff.
“We are thrilled to be able to partner with Baylor to offer our patients and others in the community access to this valuable, hands-on training that can help put people on the path to better health,” says Dr. Nicholson. “Bariatric surgery provides patients a big boost in their weight-loss efforts, but it can only take them so far. Those who succeed in reaching their goals will find that exercise, too, is a critical part of the post-surgical plan.”
The SHED program starts Oct. 20 in the Legacy Medical Village, Spring Creek Conference Room, 5425 W. Spring Creek Parkway, in Plano. The program runs from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for three months. The cost is $30 a month or $90, if paid in full. The classes will be led by Kandis Brooks, Fitness Specialist at Baylor Tom Landry Health & Wellness Center. To find out more or to register visit or contact Shanette Cole at 2014-820-2367 or .
