Weight loss surgery center provides information on revisional surgery for those looking to fix past procedures.

Plano, TX, November 14, 2014 - Texas-based Nicholson Clinic for Weight Loss Surgery, a state-of-the-art weight loss surgery center, offers patients the option of revisional surgery, a procedure to address a past procedure that either failed to produce the desired result or did not resolve health issues connected to obesity. Revisional surgery, says the founder of the Nicholson Clinic, is one of the procedures that is the least discussed but still an important part of the world of weight loss surgery.

“There are some cases in which weight loss surgery does not produce the desired effect even if the proper diet and exercise regime is being followed,” says Dr. Nick Nicholson, the founder of the Nicholson Clinic. “In those cases, weight loss goals are not being met and perhaps conditions that are associated with this weight are not being resolved. The patient’s health and life are still at risk. Revisional surgery can address these concerns and perhaps put the patient in better standing for achieving weight and overall health goals.”

Revisional surgery is a big decision to make as there is greater risk with a secondary surgery; the length of the procedure is typically longer and while initial weight loss surgeries are most often performed laparoscopically, secondary surgeries often require an open incision. Additionally, weight loss can be slower following a revisional surgery. Even still, says Dr. Nicholson, in many cases a secondary surgery is essential and even medically necessary.

“Helping our patients find success is imperative to our mission,” says Dr. Nicholson. “And in some cases that means helping them find that success through revisional surgery. Whether we are providing a first or a second surgery, we do our best to ensure that our patients are prepared, aware of their options, and ready to make a commitment to the lifestyle necessary to achieve a successful outcome.”

Founded by Dr. Nick Nicholson, one of the country’s leading weight loss surgeons and co-author of “Weight Loss Surgery: The Real Skinny”, the Nicholson Clinic for Weight Loss Surgery offers an integrated approach to achieving health through weight loss. With award-winning,state-of-the-art facilities throughout Texas - and a team of doctors and medical professionals who are at the top of their field - the Nicholson Clinic provides a comprehensive continuum of care that focuses on the whole patient - from weight loss surgery options, physiological support, and nutritional guidance, to physical evaluations, counseling, support groups, and other “life after surgery” programs to help achieve long-term success.
