Lawn Mowing Service We start all of our customers lawn mowing services on a bi-weekly mowing schedule in March, switch to a weekly rotation from April through October, and return all of our customers lawn mowing services to a bi-weekly basis from the beginning of November until Thanksgiving. We do not schedule recurring lawn mowing service from Thanksgiving through February, but we do have lawn mowing crews available year-round if you need an additional mow during the winter. We schedule your lawn mowing service for the same day each week or every other week, so that you will always know when our crews are coming to your property. We use 21 inch commercial grade Toro mulching lawn mowers. Our lawn mowing service includes: » Mowing all of the grass areas » Edging around the sidewalks, patio, alley, and driveway » Line-trimming/weed-eating around the fence, beds, and trees » Blowing all the clippings off of the paved areas Weekly or Bi-Weekly Mowing While we offer lawn mowing on a weekly and bi-weekly basis, we strongly recommend weekly lawn mowing in order to keep your lawn looking its best. Weekly mowing ensures an even, clean cut, and optimizes the health of your lawn. Healthy lawns are more attractive, better able to withstand the stress of hot Texas summers, and naturally block out weeds. Our weekly mowing service starts at $24. We base our price on your lot size, and our average customer pays $24- $28 for weekly service. We provide bi-weekly mowing if requested for $7 – $9 more than our weekly service. Bi-weekly mowing can result in an un-even cut, clumps being left on the lawn, and removal of too much of the length of the grass blade. Thus, in most cases, we will not send our crews back to correct these types of issues on bi-weekly accounts. Mulching or Bagging We usually bag the grass clippings for the first service for our new customers then mulch the clippings every service thereafter. Our commercial grade mulching mowers have an additional blade that chops the grass into fine clippings before releasing them back onto the ground. Mulching the grass clippings is beneficial for numerous reasons: » Grass clippings act as a natural fertilizer by returning nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, and trace amounts of micro nutrients to your lawn. » Mulching reduces the water needs of your lawn. » It decreases lawn waste, making it the more environmentally friendly option. » Grass clippings are over 80% water and decompose quickly. They will not add to thatch in the lawn. We can bag the clippings every service if requested, but we charge an additional dollar each mow for this service. Spring Scalping Scalping is the removal of dormant, straw-colored turf, and it promotes earlier green-up and helps prevent thatch and weed problems throughout the summer. March 15th through April 30th is a good time to scalp your yard and all Bermuda and zoysia lawns should be scalped each spring. Common North Texas Grasses » Bermuda Grass This is the most common type of grass used for lawns in this area. Bermuda grass is a thin bladed, warm season grass that is extremely drought tolerant due to its deep root system. It can be mowed at a height of ½ to 2 inches. Growth is promoted by full sun but it can tolerate light shade. It will not grow in mostly shaded or full shade areas. » St. Augustine Grass This is the second most common warm season grass in north Texas. It is a high maintenance grass that has broad, flat blades. St. Augustine grass requires more water than Bermuda grass, making it harder to maintain in our drought prone area, but it does tolerate shade unlike Bermuda grass. » Zoysia Grass This grass is a warm season grass that is both drought and shade tolerant. Zoysia grass has a medium course blade and is considered medium to low maintenance. It is best for lower traffic areas since it is considered a slow growing grass.
