VINTON - March 16, 2015 - Cutlery, fire trucks and a taste of the town are a few of the unusual features guests can expect at Magnets USA’s grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday.
Many might remember the company’s location, 720 Third St., as home to Grumman Fire Truck Corporation. Though exhaustively renovated, remnants of the past linger throughout the building’s 45,000 square-feet.
Paint bays are now marketing, graphics and IT departments. Old lamps have been repurposed into mirrors, and one of Grumman’s first female hires now serves as a national account manager for Magnets USA.
Fire trucks manufactured at the old Grumman building will be on site during the event, and former Grumman employees have been encouraged to attend.
To celebrate the move from Roanoke City to Vinton, Magnets USA has invited local restaurants to participate in a Taste of Vinton as part of the festivities.
The grand opening, which will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the company’s line of fine cutlery, is scheduled for 1 p.m. The event is open to the public, and tours of the facility will be given.
