Prevention is the key to your pet's long-term health and yearly physical examinations at our animal hospital are instrumental in identifying health issues before they become a problem. Dr. Shane and the medical team at Staples Mill Animal Hospital recommend adult pets 6 years old and younger receive a complete wellness examination once a year. If a health problem or issue can be detected in its early stages, there is a far greater likelihood it can be resolved and treated with less difficulty, less expense and greater success. For your convenience, we offer early drop-off for all wellness appointments starting at 7am and pick-up anytime up until 7pm Monday through Friday at no additional charge for daycare. Your Pet's Wellness Examination When you bring your pet to Staples Mill Animal Hospital, Dr. Shane works with you to create a lifetime preventive health care plan. Your pet's health begins with an annual Woodbridge pet examination, which includes our commitment to: Examine teeth, throat and oral cavity Check vision and examine the eyes Examine the ears for infection, ear mites, allergic reaction and other related health issues Examine the respiratory system Assess your pet's heart Test your pet's reflexes Palpate lymph nodes and abdomen Inspect the skin Assess your pet's body condition and discuss activity level and appetite Palpate joints and muscles for arthritis and other orthopedic conditions Screen for intestinal parasites, Heartworm disease, and tick-borne diseases Complete blood work to create a baseline should your pet become ill between wellness visits During each pet wellness examination, we also take the time to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and keep you up to date on all the information you need to be the best caregiver to your pet. Your involvement is vital to the health and well-being of your pet and good communication between you and your pet's doctor ensures your dog or cat is receiving the optimal care to support a long, healthy life.
