What Breed is Winston?

Winston a great little brother to Jac-Jac and his owners Dr. Dale and Donna are head-over- heels in love with him. It was known of his “history” a chocolate lab from a local breeder but Dr. Dale couldn’t help but wonder what his deep background breeding was. It wasn’t only her coloring that suggested Chocolate Labrador, it was also his intelligence, willingness to please, his pointing capabilities, the tendency to end up in “dad’s” lap and the way he liked to ride in the passenger seat even though he would look at “mom” when she was ready to get in the car as if “this seat already taken! He had to have something else too, maybe Jack Russell; something with a curly tail.  When the opportunity arose to have a DNA test to unravel the mystery. All that was required was a blood sample. Bets were on as to what the results would be. Some said Jack Russell and Cattle Dog, others thought there might be Pug thrown in. Some went out on a limb suggesting Dalmatian rather than Cattle Dog. The results showed the much anticipated Chocolate Labrador Retriever.  Pure Bred as well as Mixed Breed Identification not only satisfies our curiosity but once breeds are identified further testing is available to look for genetic diseases known to those breeds. A simple blood test is now available through the clinic – it might help unlock the genetic story of your furry friend!
