Night Guards: • Main Street Dentistry uses a proactive approach in treating occlusal disease with occlusal oral appliances. Occlusal disease occurs when a patient clenches and grinds the enamel off their teeth. Some patients can wear teeth flat. Clenching and grinding can occur during the day and night. • Night guards are made of acrylic material – these splints fit over teeth to protect patient from grinding and clenching. • Night guards therapy relieves patients with excessive tooth sensitivity to percussion. Fillings: • Holes in teeth caused by decay need fillings. • If tooth decay is not treated, tooth pain and/or infection can occur with the prospect of extraction. Composite vs. Amalgam fillings: • A composite filling is a tooth-colored plastic and glass mixture. • Composite material allows for a more natural look with a variety of shades. • Amalgam is a mixture of metals or alloys (silver colored appearance). • Amalgam is a cheaper alternative to composite fillings. Cleanings: During your oral hygiene appointment, our team will: • Remove sticky plaque build-up from the surfaces of teeth and oral dental appliances. Plaque is bacteria in the mouth, which collects on teeth and causes decay, gum disease, and gingivitis. Some patients will require a deep cleaning due to gum disease and past periodontal treatments. • Remove tartar, from teeth surfaces. Tartar, or calculus is plaque that has become hard on the teeth. Tartar below the gum line is also an indication of gum disease. • Remove stains from teeth through polishing. Care for Children: • Cleaning and polishing, removing tarter and plaque. • Fluoride treatments. • Sealants to protect teeth from cavities. • Early detection of potential orthodontic treatment. Crowns: • Used to protect and restore weak or broken teeth. • It is a type of restoration that completely covers a tooth. • Available in a variety of materials. • Can be used for cosmetic modifications. Bridges: • Commonly used to replace gaps where teeth are missing. • Can be cemented to natural teeth or implants. • Available in a variety of materials. Referrals: With time, oral health research has evolved and specialized doctor focuses exist to increase the quality and scope of patient care. We use referrals to ensure our patients receive the highest quality and most thorough required treatment for their needs. Specialists such as endodontists, periodontists, and oral surgeons have the equipment, technology, and education to provide more specific care for more complex oral health treatments.
