The Kenosha Public Museum’s offer an open invitation to all those looking to have fun while learning! Whether you’re a teacher, scout leader, tour organizer, home school, educator, or day care worker, the Kenosha Public Museums has the perfect solution for a day out with your class, party, organization, or group. Set along the beautiful shoreline of Lake Michigan, the Kenosha Public Museum, and the Civil War Museum, shares a campus, with the third of the trio, the Dinosaur Discovery Museum, just a short FREE, electric trolley car ride away! The Dinosaur Discovery Museum, and Civil War Museums, welcome everyone to spend the day, traveling through time, with some of the most impressive, interactive displays in the Midwest. The Kenosha Public Museum, an accredited natural science, anthropology, and fine and decorative arts museum, boasts a collection of more than 80,000 pieces of history, from around the world. From permanent exhibits such as the Schaefer mammoth, discovered right here in Kenosha County, to ever changing exhibits, and works of Art by Picasso, Chagall, and Dali. The Civil War Museum, takes the visitors, back in time, and through a journey, traveled by the men and women of the Midwest, through the very personal accounts left behind in journals, documents and diaries. With over 750,000 of their brethren participating in the Civil War effort on the Union’s behalf, the people of the Midwest supplied necessities such as food, to support the troops, and ultimately, win the most tragic war in American history. Take a stroll among the dinosaurs, as you experience the sights and sounds of the early Mesozoic Era. Learn about dinosaurs from the beginning; where and how they lived, what they ate, and the link between modern day birds and the meat eating dinosaurs Tyrannosaurus Rex and Allosaurus. The main gallery hosts casts of actual dinosaur fossil bones, impressively towering over visitors, as they pass by. The Carthage Institute of Paleontology, resides in the lower level, and it’s inner workings can be observed by visitors through the glass. The Dinosaur Discovery Museum offers group educational programs created for Dino fans of all ages. Pre-school children, will love the Dino Tots, Dinosaur Digs and Field Station, while those a little older can add What is a Dinosaur?, Wisconsin Wildlife and the Museum Highlight Tour. Grade school kids through 12th grade can take advantage of many other educational programs that will enhance their curriculum, while they have a great time!
