Available to travel to homes. Use the music books you already have or I can make recommendations. What are your musical goals? I can help with memorizing songs, theory, sight reading, playing by ear, learning to read musical notation that includes tab and chord diagrams, techniques for very beginner thru advanced. I am classically trained and I have a Music Education Degree from KU. I encourage musicianship over genres. The genres I am most familiar with are classical, alternative, folk, folk rock, some country, some blues, jazz and several styles in between those. Going at a pace that the student is comfortable with is IMPORTANT to me. I attempt to alleviate and remove frustration, encouraging differing strategies and approaches. For children, I offer musical games at least every other lesson if that is what is desired. I do recommend keeping a music journal and manuscript paper. I teach how to tune a guitar, develop callouses in least painful way with encouraging realistic attitudes. I work mostly with those who are interested in music for a hobby; I am also proud to announce I have had students go musically professional. So whatever your musical goals are whether they may be to improve music theory, rhythm, chord harmony sequencing, etc. I will do my best to help you achieve them. If you want ideas on what is in music world I can ramble for YEARS about different aspects of music and what can be possible for your musical tastes. I can help with setting up your own practicing structure. I teach scales, how to improvise, how to play guitar or piano and sing at the same time, how to use scales, different kinds of guitar string awareness to suit your playing style, not mine. I teach only 6 string guitar acoustic or electric. With piano, an acoustic or electric piano with weighted keys is preferred, for starting a keyboard is okay for the first four to five months. I offer live music for wedding processional and recessionals with piano or guitar anywhere from Beatles to Hayden. I do request that a two month in advance date, so that I can be well practiced for the songs you choose for your wedding. I also perform as a singer songwriter. I have toured regionally in the Midwest. The venue styles I have performed are colleges, universities, banquets, clubs, and house concerts.
